Over the last 15 years, we have seen neutrals drive home decor colors trends, first with gray taking over everything followed by black and white accented with cognac and light wood tones. Now we are starting to see richer colors trending and starting to take center stage. I am excited to see more color being added to decor because it gives homeowners the ability to really customize their space and allow it to look more unique. Let’s look at some of the examples of colors that are starting to trend.
Elevated, Healing Earth Hues

Earth tones and nature-inspired greens are making their mark in design this year. Think colors such as olive & sage or cinnamon & ochre. These colors can bring a sense of security & wellbeing and create warm, inviting spaces. These types of colors can be great for living rooms and dining rooms where people tend to gather.
Joyful, Tasteful Jewel Tones

Rich jewel tones such as emerald, garnet, sapphire and topaz inspire a rich sense of depth. They can make a bold statement while bringing a touch of luxury and sophistication to your spaces. I love to see these types of colors used in bold office designs or in furniture accents, such as a beautiful velvet sofa that makes a statement.
Novel, Bold Natural Brights

Bold colors of nature are also appearing on the scene. Colors such as coral, cerulean and lime while bright, can be used tastefully when paired with certain neutrals. They can help infuse energy to your space. Some of my favorite fabric and wallpaper brands often use these colors as accents or within their bold patterns. They look beautiful in coastal as well as transitional interior design styles.
As a reminder, color trends do come and go, but if you find a color that speaks to you, finding ways to incorporate it into your home is important. It’s your home and it’s all about you! Plus I find that decorating with color tends to make your home more timeless than only decorating with the trendy neutral of the moment.
